Frivolité experimentje

De laatste tijd lijkt het haast of frivolité mijn dagen wil overnemen.
Het is tegenwoordig dan ook de handwerktechniek die ik het liefst doe.

Een van de dingen die me nu opviel was dat ik niet meer blij ben met hoe mijn ringen ‘liggen’ (niet netjes genoeg). Ik wist dat ik op Muskaan’s fantastische blog een uitgebreid experiment over kon vinden en die heb ik dan ook nagedaan om te kijken wat voor mij het beste werkt.

Zo vond ik dan ook mijn oplossing: een extra eerste halve steek maken en dan het spoeltje door de ring halen voor ik die sluit.

In de 2 foto’s hieronder kun je het verschil zien. Beide hebben links de standaard ring, en rechts waar ik het bovenstaande ‘extraatje’ heb toegepast.

Ben je het met mij eens dat de rechter ringen netter zijn?

Small tatting experiment

Looks like tatting wants to take over my life. Not that I mind, for it is currently my favourite craft to do.

I noticed that neatness of the rings, or lack thereoff, is bothering me nowadays. While before it felt like too much faff to do the extra steps for a tiny difference.

It’s been some years since my last quest for neater rings that obviously didn’t stick around in my brain. So I looked up the experiment Muskaan did about this issue on her fantastic blog.

My conclusion: making an extra first half stitch followed by posting the shuttle through the ring before closing it does the trick for me.

You can see the difference in the 2 pictures below. Both have the standard ring on the left, and the ring with “faff” on the right.
