Acht! Ja acht nieuwe spoelen sinds de laatste post die ik maakte over frivolité spoeltjes. Stuk voor stuk zijn ze gemaakt door Mira Deineka, op Etsy te vinden als TattingLaceJewellery.
Dit zijn precies die spoeltjes die ik net ontdekt had in bovengenoemde post.
Mijn favoriet is nog steeds dezelfde, maar deze acht hebben samen de tweede plek makkelijk veroverd.
Ik ben dus behoorlijk fan van deze frivolité spoelen.
Je kan er onwijs veel garen op winden en ze zijn stevig: Ik kan ze helemaal vol winden en ze gaan nog niet ‘open’ staan!
Vergelijk dat met mijn 2 voorgenoemde ‘werkpaarden’ die (voornamelijk) van fineerhout zijn gemaakt. Ik denk dat ze daardoor minder stevig zijn waardoor ze beide al open gaan staan voordat ik ze helemaal vol heb kunnen winden.
Wel heb ik de lak van de buitenkanten van de nieuwe spoelen geschuurd met een heel fijn schuurpapier, want ik houd veel meer van het gevoel van ‘bloot’ hout. Nu voelen en heel fijn en glad en oh ook hun natuurlijke uiterlijk is zo mooi dat ik ze regelmatig alleen al even in mijn handen houd om ze te bewonderen.

Expanding my tatting shuttle collection.
Yep that’s right. Since my last tatting shuttle post I got eight new ones.
They are all made by Mira Deineka, owner of TattingLaceJewellery on Etsy.
As it so happens, these are the tatting shuttles I had just discoverd in that same tatting shuttle post.
My favourite is still the same one as before, but collectively these 8 new ones have firmly conquered the second spot.
Sou can say I’m a big fan.
They hold heaps of thread, and are very sturdy: You can load them full entirely and both halves/sides (mouths/beaks?) stay closed!
Compare that to my 2 “workhorses” I mentioned in my previous tatting shuttle post. They consist (mainly) of layers of veneer, which, I think, makes them stand open before I’ve fully loaded them. So the new ones hold even more thread!
I love the feel of ‘naked’ wood so I did sand off the resin on the outsides of the new tatting shuttles, ending with a very fine gritt. Now they feel buttery smooth and ooooohhh I just need to hold them and admire their natural beauty from time to time.
