Toen ik Ring kransen naar het Engels vertaalde moest ik meteen denken aan de ring geesten (ringwraights) van ‘In de ban van de ring’. Niet zo raar, want tijdens oud en nieuw heb ik de extended editie van de hele trilogie gekeken.
Hoewel deze frivolité kransjes niks te maken hebben met de trilogie moet ik wel lachen om hoeveel deze kransjes te maken hebben met ringen.
Kransen zijn uiteraard ring vormig. Daarnaast bestaan deze kransjes alleen maar uit ringen. Verder kan je nog zeggen dat het ook nog bestaat uit ringen die bestaan uit clusters van 5 ringen.
De grootste van deze kransjes is gemaakt met 2 draden bij elkaar: Een witte samen met Mettler Silk-finish cotton in de kleur 9825.
De oranje met glitter is gemaakt met Venne Creafil. Erg mooi resultaat, maar ik moest wel heel voorzichtig zijn, want het draad is bijna te fragiel om mee te frivoliteeën.
De twee kleinsten in rood en groen zijn gemaakt met King Tut katoen quilt garen in de kleur 1002. Deze kransjes zijn ongeveer zo groot als een €2 munt.
Het patroon heet Alexia and de ontwerper is Rita

Ring wreaths
Did you think about the Ringwraiths of ‘Lord of the Rings’ when you saw the title?
Yeah me too.
It could have something to do with watching the extended edition of the whole trilogy during new year’s eve.
Though these have nothing to do with LOTR, these tatted wreaths are in themselves rings that exist solely out of rings. You could even consider that the wreaths exists of rings of 5-ring cluster
The largest one was made with Mettler Silk-finish cotton in the colourway 9825, held together with a white thread.
The Sparkly orange one is made with Venne creafil. Very nice result, but it is almost too delicate to tat with.
The two smallest ones in green and red are made with King Tut cotton quilting thread in the colourway 1002. These are about the size of a €2 coin.
