Een van de redenen waarom ik de mandala ‘Spring doily 2022’ van Renulek maakte was zodat ik een groot frivolité werk als blikvanger kan hebben op de festivals waar ik mijn werk laat zien.
Met ‘Middeleeuws Winschoten’ was het zo ver. Spannend!
Het werkte, Yess!!
Op deze festivals is het de bedoeling dat ik vertel over de technieken, en ik laat ze uiteraard zien.
Nu heb ik wel mijn 2 grote plastick spoelen met dik draad om de basis te laten zien, maar ik wou ook een frivolité project hebben om mee bezig te zijn, zodat gasten ook ‘frivolité in actie’ konden zien.
Het perfecte project om te doen had ik al een poosje in mijn hoofd rond dwalen; een frivolité ketting.
Een patroon was niet nodig, want het maken van de kameleons had me dat al geleerd.
Voor het maken van de ringen heb ik Lizbeth 80, in de kleur 181 gebruikt. Simpelweg omdat ik de kleuren mooi vind en er nog wat van op spoeltjes zat. Omdat de boogjes toch vrijwel niet te zien zijn, koos ik om die te maken met 2 bijpassende kleuren lockgaren.
Met een overhandse knoop aan het ene eind, en nog een gemaakt van het andere eind om het eerste eind heen maakt het af.

Simple tatted choker
One of the reasons I made the ‘Spring doily 2022’ by Renulek was so I’d have a big piece of tatting to attract attention from people at the few ren faires I show my work at.
‘Middeleeuws Winschoten’ (Medieval Winschoten) was the first, exciting!
And it worked!
My intention is to show, and tell visitors about the crafts I do. Of course I have my big plastic tatting shuttles with thick thread to show the basics, but I also wanted a work in progress to show ’tatting in action’.
I’d had an idea for a while to make a tatted choker, and this was the perfect time to make it.
No pattern was needed, making the chameleons had taught me how to do it.
For making the rings I used Lizbeth size 80 in the colour 181, simply because I like it, and I still had some on a shuttle or 2. For making the chains I opted to use 2 corresponding colours of lockyarn, because these would hardly be visible.
One overhand knot on one side, and when putting it on making another one from the other end around the cord just above the first one, finishes it.
